RUGBY LEAGUE: Wests pivot Mitchell Moses has lauded the impact of team-mate Luke Brooks following the team's first NRL trial of the year at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

The Tigers defeated the Storm 18-16 on Saturday night and the performance of ball-player Brooks was particularly impressive.

The 21-year-old came off the bench to inspire the side.

"You could tell the speed of the game really amped up when he came on," Moses told Tigers TV.

"He was getting across the field well and he set up two or three tries there.

"When he came on everyone started lifting."

Indeed, the game seemed to speed up with the introduction of the ex-Australian Schoolboys representative and 2015 NRL All Stars player.

But Moses also believed Jack Littlejohn showed some promise in the halves.

"He was good, really taking control and calling the plays early," he said.

Moses also played a large role in the Tigers' success and he is expected to play a large role in the team's quest for finals this year.

"I was happy with how I was getting my kicks away in the (blustery) conditions," he said.

The 21-year-old also believed the trial was particularly physical.

"It was pretty brutal in the middle," he said.

"We tried to go set to set with them which we did and we're happy about that.

"It was good to have that first hit-out of the year. We're going to take a bit of confidence out of that, but not too much."

The Tigers will next face the Sharks at Campbelltown ahead of the season proper on March 3.
