ORGANISERS hope the rain will clear for the Oztag Australia State of Origin this weekend at the Sunshine Coast Stadium.

This event promises to showcase the best of Queensland and New South Wales Oztag players in a state versus state battle.

More than 1500 players and spectators are expected over the weekend. The senior competition will be held tomorrow and will have 12 divisions totalling 380 players.

The junior competition on Sunday, will have 16 divisions totalling 512 players.

Oztag Australia tournament director Bill Harrigan said the rivalry between the two states was stronger than ever.

"Last year, New South Wales took a clean sweep in all 12 senior divisions, so this year Queensland are looking for the win," he said.

"However, Queensland won the junior girls under-13 and under-15 (division) so both states are looking to keep the momentum running."

The games run from 9am to 4pm both days and entry is free for spectators.

The Sunshine Coast Stadium is at 31 Sportsmans Parade, Bokarina.
