Neil Diamond is confirmed to perform at the council’s Sunshine Coast Stadium on March 22, 2018 as part of his wildly successful 50 Year Anniversary Tour.

The tour will celebrate Neil Diamond’s incomparable 50-year career and hits spanning decades such as Cherry Cherry, Holly Holy, Cracklin’ Rosie, Song Sung Blue, You Don’t Bring Me Flowers, Solitary Man, Sweet Caroline, Love on the Rocks, Desiree and Shilo.

Diamond’s universally beloved songs – as well as his charismatic and openhearted performances of them – continue to make him an international force both as a record maker and a live entertainer.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said council had been working hard to get live music events to the Sunshine Coast and today we are thrilled to make a major international music artist announcement.

“After performing to millions of fans around the world, superstar Neil Diamond is bringing his 50 Year Anniversary world tour to our Sunshine Coast Stadium on March 22 next year,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“This is our first international music act at Sunshine Coast Stadium and there is no doubt it will be a fantastic venue for the Neil Diamond concert. We hope to attract many more live music events to the region.

“Tickets will be on sale soon and I encourage the Sunshine Coast community to help us break our stadium’s attendance record.”

Paul Dainty, President and CEO of TEG DAINTY said “Neil Diamond is one of the world’s greatest live performers and I am honoured to be working with him on his 50 Year Anniversary Tour and bringing him to cities and venues he has never played.”

Neil Diamond’s extraordinary career spans five decades and has created defining hits for generation after generation of loyal fans. He has sold over 130 million albums world-wide and has charted 37 Top 40 singles and 16 Top 10 albums.

A Grammy award-winning artist, Diamond is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the highest honours bestowed upon songwriters.

Diamond’s many other achievements include a Golden Globe Award, 13 Grammy nominations and 2009’s NARAS MusiCares Person of the Year award. In 2011, Diamond received the prestigious Kennedy Center Honor for his lifetime of contributions to American culture.
