Name: Abbi Wilkes

Career Highlights: I'm 20 years old and moved to Australia from the UK just over 2 years ago. I'm the current head coach of the U13 girls and U15 girls at Sunshine Coast FC. Last season I lead the U13 girls to win their first ever NPL league title.

Favourite Training Exercise: Ball Manipulation - Teaching players techniques to improve their footwork and ball skills. Players who learn from this often show it in other training practices and on game days. It is good for me to watch players portray what I have taught them.

How do you create a close team that communicates on field: I create a enjoyable atmosphere so that players feel relaxed and know they can have fun as long as the professionalism and work rate remains and a high level. Players bond easier when everyone is happy and feel part of the team and that makes it even easier for communication.

Players to watch: Marcus Rashford - Currently playing for Manchester United at only 19 years of age and an inspiration for young players. Messi - Currently playing for Barcelona and has unreal technical ability on the ball.

Advice for young players wanting to make the game a career: My advice would be to set a goal for yourself to work hard and aim to play at the highest level of football available to you. Do some research to understand what it takes and be confident. Ensure you have good football knowledge and stay motivated to reach your set goal.

Advice to all players to boost game day performance: There are many different ways to boost game day performance but attending training and putting in 100% effort is a must as this is where most game day preparation takes place. Be sure to stay hydrated as your body and mind works better when given the right fuel and stay in a positive mindset regardless of the game day situation.

Closing tips: As a footballer it is important to keep your health and fitness at a high level. This means eating nutritionally and staying hydrated is important so that your body can maintain the level of energy that is needed. Keep your level of work rate at training at a constant high to maintain a good fitness level.
