Sunshine Coast Falcons captain, Dane Hogan is has hopeful expectations with the Falcons holding a strong position at number two in the ladder half way into the season. Get to know your local legend!
Name: Dane Hogan
Position: Second Row/ Lock
Started playing when: When I was ten. I played soccer first because my parents thought I was too small to play footy so I had to work up and convince them otherwise.
Pre-game ritual: I don’t really have a pre-game ritual, other than making sure I get a big feed the night before.
Training tips: I try to tick all the boxes leading up to a game. I feel slack if I haven’t prepared properly.
Most memorable career moment: My NRL debut in 2010
What do you do in your downtime: When I’m not working or playing, I’ll usually be at the beach surfing.
Advice to young players interested in getting into the game: Don’t stress too much when you’re young if you haven’t made a rep team at 15-17. A lot of those kids think they have it made when they make a team early and their commitment can sway. Stay committed and you’ll shine through at the end.
Best food for fuel: I don’t eat too much before a game, but pizza and pasta – definitely plenty of carbs the night before!
