THE Sunshine Coast will become a sea of panting, brilliant colour when it plays host to an event in the internationally known Swisse Color Run this year.
The run is a 5km fundraiser to be held around the Stockland Park precinct and Lake Kawana.
For every kilometre travelled, participants - all dressed in stark white - will be sprayed with a variety of natural coloured powders in blue, orange, yellow and pink as they raise money for charity.
The event has proved a hit in the US, with more than 100 cities talking part this year. The Gold Coast run will be held this weekend, with more events planned across Australia through the rest of the year.
Sunshine Coast mayor Mark Jamieson announced the Sunshine Coast event this morning. He said more than 10,000 people were expected to take part, with the focus of the run on connecting with friends and family.
"This will be an iconic new event on the Sunshine Coast," Mr Jamieson said.
The event raises funds for Swisse's charitable arm, The Celebrate Life Foundation, and a local charity partner, which will be an appointed beneficiary. Partcipants will be encouraged to raise funds through the Everday Hero website.
