SIXTY Test veteran Toutai Kefu will be a Sunshine Coast Stingray for the upcoming Premier Rugby season.

In a major coup, the signing of the former Wallaby, who has been playing in the Top League in Japan, was announced by the Stingrays this morning.

Now 35, Kefu made his international Test debut in the 1997 Tri Nations series and he played a key role in the Australian side which won the 1999 Rugby World Cup.

His last Test came against the All Blacks in 2003.

One of the Tongan-born No.8’s finest moments came in fellow Queenslander John Eales’ final game for the Wallabies when he scored the try which beat the All Blacks to give the retiring skipper a winning record against the New Zealanders and the perfect send off.

Kefu joins two current Reds, Morgan Turinui and Daniel Braid, on the Stingrays’ books.

Garry Crick Volkswagen has signed on as major sponsorship of the Coast club.

“We are proud to have signed as the major sponsor for the Stingrays and hope 2010 will end as well as it’s starting for the club,” said Sam Bohner of Garry Crick Volkswagen.
