Sunshine Coast FC Fire and Wishlist need your help to bring some Christmas cheer to those who need it most with ‘Fire’s Christmas Toy Drive’.

Sunshine Coast FC will be collecting gifts for the children’s ward of Nambour Hospital and children in foster care on the Sunshine Coast from now until 16 December.

All of the donated gifts will be placed under the Christmas tree in the Sunshine Coast FC Fire office window.

The gifts will then be delivered to the children’s ward of the Nambour General Hospital the Sunshine Coast FC Fire Senior Men’s team on 18 December.

Everyone who donates a gift will have their name placed on the tree, and will go in a draw for a Sunshine Coast FC Fire 2016 Family Season Pass.

Sunshine Coast FC Fire Technical Director Melvyn Wilkes said that it is the responsibility of the club to help the community, especially around Christmas.

“It’s a special time of the year, but many children in hospital and foster care don’t get to experience that because of their situation,” Wilkes said.

“We want to do all we can to brighten up the lives of these kids,” he said.

Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe said that for vulnerable kids, often distraction is the best medicine.

“Wishlist is the Coast’s local hospital foundation dedicated to fundraising for the needs of our public health service. Our aim is to make every patient’s stay in hospital as comfortable as possible and provide access to the best possible health care,” Rowe said.

Ms Rowe also thanked Sunshine Coast FC Fire on behalf of Wishlist, for helping to make children who are doing it tough to smile again.

Sunshine Coast FC Fire Coach Paul Arnison is pleased that he is able to give back to the community that supports his team.

“The community comes out to support the Fire at our games so it’s good to be able to give back that support for a great cause,” Arnison said.

“I’m very fortunate with the position that I’m in, to be able to contribute to something like this and help the kids who need it most,” he concluded.

Toy donations can be dropped off at the Sunshine Coast FC Fire office located on Level 1 of the Sunshine Coast Stadium, 31 Sportsmans Parade, Bokarina, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9:30am and 4:30pm.
