STUDENTS at Assumption College got a taste of professional rugby league yesterday, thanks to a visit from Sunshine Coast Falcons coach Glen Dreger and captain Tom Murphy.
It was the first time Murphy had visited the Southern Downs region and he said demonstration days were a great chance to see young rural students as they toured across a new region each year.
Sarah Tansky, a rugby league fan who plays women's league tag, was grateful for the chance to meet the Falcons members.
"It's great to hear from someone with experience," Tansky said.
"It's inspiring to hear some of their stories."
Both Dreger and Murphy left Warwick to attend a come-and-try day at Stanthorpe, which featured fun rugby league games and activities conducted by Sunshine Coast Falcons and Burleigh Bears members.
