Let's get home, boat show on road
LEISURE is a big part of life on the Sunshine Coast, and Stockland Park promises to have something for everyone this weekend.
The Sunshine Coast Home Show and Caravan, Camping and Boating Expo, starting today and running until Sunday, are looking to attract visitors from all walks of life.
Organiser Bob Carroll said everyone, from those wanting to spruce up the family home to those looking to hit to road in style, would have plenty to choose from.
"It is a major shopping experience where visitors can choose from a great range of products and services to complement and enhance their homes and lifestyles," he said. More than 220 exhibitors from around Australia were busy setting up yesterday, getting ready to sell their products and services.
Mr Carroll said he expected to see between 10,000 and 12,000 people over the weekend. "For the leisure industry, they need sales at this time to get them into the Christmas period." "For the home industy, this is the last chance of the year to organise for things like renovations and pool installations.
Mr Carroll said it would also be a welcome boost for local tourism. "These are big purchases, and people will bring their family to see the caravan or the pool they're thinking about," he said. Hinterland Caravans stand manager Malcolm Cameron has 12 vans on show, with prices ranging from $40,000 to $90,000. "We're finding it's not just grey nomads who are buying caravans. It has changed over the past few years to include a lot of young people and families," he said.
