Sunshine Coast Stadium is proud to be home to some amazing local teams and even prouder when we have the opportunity see them shine on our main field. Saturday, August 18 is Brothers Rugby Union's 'Stadium Day' which will see fixtures for their Under 9's - Under 14's spread across fields 5,6,7 as well as the main stadium field from 8:30am - 2:00pm.
Brothers Rugby Club rose from the Kawana Eagles some 7 years ago and has continued to grow in keeping with Junior Rugby on the Sunshine Coast. It has always thrived with its Home Base ‘The Barracks’ being part of the Sunshine Coast Sports Precinct. However all the players look through the fence and look forward to the once-a-year ‘Stadium Day’ when Game Day is hosted on the stadium's main playing field.
Brothers Rugby Club said, "They’ve seen their sporting idols from the Wallabies and Queensland Reds train there. So come August 19, these young kids will be chomping at the bit - they’ll love the soft ground to land on, looking up into the stand to see their families looking down on them, not to mention running out of the world class change rooms on to the field!"
"It’s things like this that Brothers works hard to give their young players that special experience, knowing it will create ‘forever’ memories for them. It is all about giving them and their families this moment."
Rugby on the Sunshine Coast continues to expand and Brothers Rugby Club have been incredibly involved with this. Working hard to get their Juniors at a young point with their ‘Become a Brother’ Campaign, the club is adamant in assisting families and try not to let registration costs impede a new Rugby Junior from experiencing the game and their Blue & White Family culture. They've also worked hard this year to expand the numbers involved in the Girls’ Rugby 7’s program having Brothers’ teams in the Under 14 and 16 competitions.
This weekend is the last Competition round for the year and certainly the ‘Stadium Day’ will help round off another great year for Brothers who already have 2018 in their sights.
