Tickets are now on sale for the Roar’s Pre-Season Tour match against Central Coast Mariners at Sunshine Coast Stadium, Bokarina, on Saturday, 26 September (7pm kick off).

The match will be the final pre-season hit out for the two clubs before the start of the Hyundai A-League season 2015/16 in October and will conclude the Roar's four-game 2015/16 Pre-Season Tour of South-East Queensland that began on the Gold Coast this week.

The Roar and the Mariners are both foundation members of the Hyundai A-League and have shared some historic moments in the competition's 10-year history.

The Roar have been Hyundai A-League champions three times and Premiers twice. The Mariners have been champions once (runners-up three times) and Premiers twice.

In 2011, the two clubs featured in probably most dramatic yet Hyundai A-League Grand Final.

The Mariners took a 2-0 lead into the second half of extra-time but the Roar managed to level the scores (the equaliser coming on the last play of the game) then went on to win a penalty shoot-out to secure the Championship trophy.

Sunshine Coast Council’s Tourism, Sport and Major Events portfolio holder Cr Jason OPray (pictured below) today welcomed the Roar's Luke DeVere and Craig Moore to the region as they viewed the stadium’s facilities.

“It’s brilliant for our thousands of football fans, and particularly everyone who loves the Roar, that we’ll have another A-League pre-season clash here on the Sunshine Coast,” Cr OPray said.

“We’ll get thousands through the gates and I’m sure everyone who rocks up will give a big Coast welcome to John Aloisi in his new role as Head Coach of the Roar.

“Not only will one of our long-time Socceroos heroes be here, we’re going to see first-hand the squad he’s put together for this season.

“Our first-class facilities at Sunshine Coast Stadium continue to attract top-class sporting talent like the Roar and Mariners, ensuring our sports lovers here on the Coast get some great opportunities to see the best in action right here in our backyard.”

Brisbane Roar Head Coach John Aloisi said he was delighted to be bringing his side to the Sunshine Coast to play such a powerful opponent as the Mariners.

"Getting out into the community and playing in regions like the Sunshine Coast is very important to us," Aloisi said.

"There are a lot of Sunshine Coast kids and football supporters who may not have seen A-League in the flesh, or Brisbane Roar or the Central Coast Mariners in the flesh.

"This match is a great opportunity for them to come to a Saturday evening game and see great players like Thomas Broich and Matt McKay.

"Hopefully we can inspire those kids to be the next big stars in the A-League and playing for Brisbane Roar."

Mariners Head Coach Tony Walmsley said the clash with the Roar would be a “crucial test” for his side in the lead up to Season 11 of the Hyundai A-League.

“The Mariners and Brisbane have a rich history between the two clubs and I’m sure the football fans on the Sunshine Coast will be treated to an entertaining encounter,” Walmsley said.

The Roar will play two other matches next month as part of their Pre-Season Tour. They take on Newcastle Jets at Redland City (Cleveland Showgrounds, Saturday, 12 September, 3pm) and the PS4NPLQld Under-23 All-Stars (QSAC Nathan, Saturday, 19 September, 4.30pm).

Ticketing information for those games will be announced soon.
