The 50th Anniversary of the Naming of the Sunshine Coast will be officially commemorated on August 1 2017.
In the 50th Anniversary year we plan to celebrate our identity, engage our community and showcase our history and future. In this exciting milestone year we’ll also celebrate and commemorate the people that have shaped and defined the Sunshine Coast.
A full program has been planned to mark this historic occasion.
Our Sunshine Coast Concert is a community concert in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Naming of the Sunshine Coast.
This community event draws together local artists and community groups to create an outstanding event and musical experience to commemorate this historic occasion.
Bring a blanket to this free, family-friendly event and enjoy kids entertainment and activities. Then sit back and imagine a 100-piece orchestra, 200-voice choir plus 100-voice children’s choir and dancers – conducted by Kim Kirkman. The performances will include a Beatles Medley, original songs written to celebrate the occasion and the epic Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.
With special performer and MC Darren Percival and local heroes throughout the afternoon.
Join us at the Sunshine Coast Stadium on Sunday 6 August with gates opening from 1pm. Performance times 2-4pm. This event is free. Food and drinks will be available to purchase.

This event is a Triathlon Australia World Qualifying Race to compete for Australia at the Age Group ITU World Championships on the Gold Coast in September 2018.
With over 40 brewers to sample from, come and kick back with a pale ale whilst enjoying an array of music from a packed schedule of talented local artists headlined by The Lyrcial.
