Lake Kawana is regarded as one of the best flat water stretches in Queensland, bringing national and international water sport competitors to the Sunshine Coast year round.
With the 2017 AOCRA National Junior Marathon Titles (September 27-29) and Trans Tasman Gubbi Gubbi Waka Ama (October 1-2) in sight, Lake Kawana will once again be a hub with competitors aged 7-19 converging to the lake from Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, Cairns and New Zealand. While this may be the first time competing for some, a few teams will be trailing for a spot in the World Sprints 2018 being held in Tahiti and could also qualify to represent Australia at the World Marathon's in 2019.

Showcasing the best of marathon racing across all crafts, the Nation Junior Marathon Titles will see competitive team events in OC6 and OC2 as well as individual events in OC1 and V1.
Junior teams are invited to participate in the 500m and 1000m sprint races in OC6, OC1 and V1 for the Trans Tasman Gubbi Gubbi Championship along with invited junior competitors from New Zealand.
AOCRA event organiser Emma Harding said that they were excited to return to the Kawana Sports Precinct stating, "Lake Kawana is a great venue as it has the lanes needed for the sprints and has great viewing options with lots of room for tents and vendors creating a festival atmosphere."

The 2017 AOCRA National Junior Marathon Titles and Trans Tasman Gubbi Gubbi Waka Ama Championship will bring the best of both race types (marathon and sprints) across five glorious days on Lake Kawana.
